A quiet, automated approach to community engagement that skips the spam
Reddit isn’t where you sell.
It’s where you help.
And if you're in a niche like Zoho consulting, there's no better place to lend a hand quietly and get noticed by the right people.
Why Reddit Matters for SMB Consultants
Reddit has deep, focused communities often more honest and insightful than what you’ll find elsewhere. If you work in CRM, automation, or tech services, there’s probably a subreddit filled with your target audience asking real questions.
But showing up manually every day isn’t scalable.
That’s why I built a light automation layer that handles the grunt work so I can focus on helping.
The Automation Stack
Here’s what my system does, step by step:
Monitors new Reddit posts in a targeted subreddit (like r/Zoho)
Logs each post into an Excel file (hosted on OneDrive)
Sends the post to ChatGPT via API to:
Identify Zoho apps mentioned
Rate how relevant the post is to my services
Draft a human-sounding, helpful reply
Strip out ugly HTML tags for readability
Updates the Excel file with all that info
Sends me an email if the post is worth replying to (rated 4 or higher)
It all runs inside Zoho Flow and completes in seconds.
ChatGPT Is a Helper, Not a Voice
I never post AI-generated responses directly.
The reply from ChatGPT is just a draft something to kickstart my own words.
The point is to cut down cold starts. With a rough draft and post rating in hand, I can decide if I want to engage. If yes, I polish the reply and post it myself.
Why This Works
It’s not loud.
It’s not spammy.
It’s just helpful.
And when you’re helpful enough, people click through. They read your profile. They find your YouTube channel or website. Some even reach out.
You become the go-to person, not the pushy one.
Takeaway
This setup isn’t about replacing engagement it’s about focusing it.
If you work in a space where Reddit discussions matter, you don’t have to live in the feed. Automate the noise, keep the human part, and let your knowledge do the rest.
